October…

Brings us colors, apples and pumpkins but for many it is also a time for meetings, conventions and budgets. Our “log castle” proudly becomes a popular meeting place for several types of groups looking for a warm and welcoming setting. Not only do our Japanese friends travel across ocean and land to admire the splendor of our autumn leaves, but conventioneers are many to appreciate the excellent service, wide range of meeting rooms and our fine dining.

Holidays: Just around the corner!

October is also a time to look ahead in eager anticipation of cherished holiday times with the family at Le Grand Lodge. This year both Christmas and New Year’s will be rung in with resounding celebrations. Santa Claus will pay a visit during Christmas Day brunch, to the delight of young and old alike, while New Year’s Eve will be lit up with fireworks by the lake. We would be delighted to welcome the whole family to join us in ringing in 2010.

10th Anniversary Contests:
Two Grand Winners!

Throughout the summer, we celebrated our 10th anniversary with the offering of incredible rates on our most beautiful suites. We also organized two contests and are happy to announce the winners:

The winner for the WEEKEND FOR LIFE at Le Grand Lodge is... Mrs. Tessier from Montreal. She had made her reservation in June for a family holiday they all enjoyed in July. Look for our interview with the Tessier family in the next issue of INFO Le Grand Lodge.

For the “Memories of Le Grand Lodge” contest, we are pleased to say that Mrs. Chantal St-Martin was our grand prize winner with her tales of moments spent by Lake Ouimet.

Congratulations to our winners!

Until we meet by the fireside, please accept my wishes for a wonderful day.

Scallop tartare with Mr. Prudhomme’s late season strawberries

• 300 g fresh scallops
• 70 g strawberries
• 50 ml coriander and basil oil
• 20 ml chives
• 20 ml fresh lime juice

Coriander and Basil Oil

• 200 ml fresh coriander and basil leaves
• 150 ml olive oil
• 50 ml vegetable oil

Strawberry dressing

• 3 egg yolks
• 25 ml water
• 20 ml Dijon mustard
• 50 ml raspberry vinegar
• 70 ml vegetable oil
• 45 ml sesame oil
• 200 g strawberries
• Salt and freshly ground pepper

Remove the vein from the scallops then chop them.
Clean the strawberries and dice them in small cubes.

In a blender, add the egg yolks, water, mustard and vinegar then pour in the vegetable and sesame oils in a small stream. Add the strawberries and blend until a creamy texture. Season to taste and there you have your Strawberry dressing.

In a blender, add the coriander and basil leaves along with the two oils. Blend at high speed then place in a sieve and allow it to completely strain through. Now you have your herbed oil.

For the final touch, mix together the chopped scallops with the strawberries, add the herbed oil along with the chives and lime juice. Season to taste.

Set a plate with the tartare and a micro mesclun salad mix, garnish with a few drops of the herbed oil and the strawberry dressing.

Bon appétit!

Electric lemonade

Your favorite bartender, Yves, has a little something that is certain to light up your guests:

Ingredients:
• 1 1/4 oz Absolut Citron
• 1/2 oz Orange Curacao
• 4 oz lemonade
• 1 tablespoon of strawberry puree (crush fresh strawberries with sugar and a little water)

In a blender, mix all of the ingredients together with some ice cubes. Serve in a tall glass and garnish with a slice of lemon.

Cheers!
